BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Controller, the General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for financial reporting and managing the General Accounting Department.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Interview, select, train, and supervise general accounting personnel who perform the following functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting for affiliated companies.
2. Coordinate general accounting activities.
3. Design and maintain all Sage 300 financial reports. Produce all monthly FWWD and consolidated financial reports. Prepare additional analysis reports (including Cost of Quality) for operations meetings.
4. Set up month-end closing procedures for all companies
5. Prepare or supervise preparation of all month-end and year-end journal entries (except for some cost-related entries) for FWWD. Close the month and year on Sage 300.
6. Maintain the general ledger for FWWD. Investigate problems relating to the integrity of the general ledger. Reconcile inter-company accounts.
7. Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare work papers for annual audit. Coordinate audit with BG&S staff for all companies.
8. Work with Information Systems personnel to design and maintain general accounting computer systems.
9. Establish and analyze overhead rates.
10. Prepare FWWD biweekly and monthly payrolls.
11. Compute salesmen’s commissions.
12. Prepare payroll tax deposits and all payroll tax returns for FWWD. Prepare annual W-2 forms for all companies. Responsible for payroll tax compliance.
13. Prepare biweekly 401K, 401K matching, defined contributions, and loan payments.
14. Prepare various insurance reports, including long-term disability, term life insurance, manufacturing output, and foreign shipments.
15. Prepare other miscellaneous government reports as required, such as those requested by the Census Bureau.
16. Supervision of annual physical inventories at WWD or AWD (alternating yearly between facilities). Assist in auditing FWWD inventories. Coordinate fixed asset inventory.
17. Maintain cash balance and work with the bank regarding checking account inquiries and problems.
18. Cost union contract during labor negotiations.
19. Coordinate file storage at American Way and Ardmore facilities.
20. Bank reconciliation is done for all companies on a rotating basis.
21. Perform the quantitative analysis required for its 401K investments by analyzing the current returns on 401K investments and prepare an earnings report for management.
22. Perform credit checks on potential customers and maintain the credit files with current information on current and potential customers.
23. Other duties and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prefer Bachelor of Science in Accounting with 5 years of experience in the accounting field
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in supervision
Experience with Sage, AS400, SyteLine/Infor ERP, Paylocity, Excel, and Word.
